Stories Related to Diwali

The first one

As per the ancient scriptures, there is a sacred legend behind the Diwali celebrations; it is narrated in the scriptures that on the very day of Kartik Amavasya, Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya the moment 14 years of exile were over and Ravana was defeated and killed in a fierce battle. On this day, in the joy of Lord Ram's arrival in Ayodhya, the entire city was vibrant with joyous celebrations, and people were overwhelmed with utmost pleasure. The city men celebrated the arrival of Lord Rama, Mata Sita, and Great Lakhman by lighting diyas, or lamps, at their respective homes to greet them. Since that day, the festival of Diwali has been celebrated in every corner of India with great pomp and grandeur.

The second one

According to the second legend, a demon named Narakasura was on a rampage, attacking the heavens, the dwelling place of the gods. The demon drove all the gods away and declared him the ruler of this universe. Not only did he spare the gods, he also spared the innocent sages with the aid of his brute force. Hearing the sad stories of the sages and gods, Lord Krishn’s heart swelled with pity, and His anger knew no bounds. He lost no time to kill the demon on the Chaturdashi of Krishna Paksha, the black lunar phase, in the month of Kartik. Along with this, Lord Vishnu freed those 16 thousand women who were taken prisoner by the demon. To celebrate the victory of Narakasur by Lord Vishnu, on the new moon day of the month of Kartik, people illuminate their homes with light or lamps. It is said that since that day, the tradition of celebrating Narak Chaturdashi and Diwali festivals has continued.

Avoid Keeping These Things at Home on This Day.

Diwali, a festival of lights and happiness, is celebrated with great enthusiasm in India. On this day, people decorate their homes with colorful lights, rangoli, and flowers. They also, with joyous minds, exchange gifts and sweets with their neighbors and dear ones. However joyous the festive occasion of Diwali is, there are certain rituals that one should keep in mind. It is in vogue that some domestic things should not be kept at home during Diwali. Try to avoid these things or throw them outside to maintain the sanctity and solemnity of their homes. Let's have a look at the things that should be avoided during Diwali.

Don’ts in the Diwali 2023 Period

While you are celebrating the Diwali 2023 festival, never lend or borrow money. Never offer anyone anything just after the sun sets.

Never donate anything that has a sharp edge, is made of leather, or contains fire crackers. Once you have any desire to donate these things, donate them along with sweets.

Keep the place of worship clean and neat. Avoid scattering anything in the place where you worship the deities. Keep in mind that the lamp you have lit must go on glowing round the clock at night. Keep a constant watch lest the lamp you have lit in the Puja room not go off for want of ghee or oil.

After the Puja, never sweep the yard or the Puja room with brooms because the blessings you have earned through the Puja may be lost by any means.

Always keep in mind that the entrance to your home must be left clean. Through this door, positive energy enters. Again, keep in mind that the entrance door never screeches while closing or opening. It is not a good sign.

Rangoli is a must on auspicious occasions, but you should take care that the rangolis must not be of any image related to Lord Ganesha or Ma Laxmi. These rangolis are not auspicious. Again, the signs of OM or SWASTIK must not be created by rangoli on the floors. The footprints of Mother Laxmi should never be drawn outside your entrance; they should always face the inner ways.

It is ideal not to cook anything non-vegetarian during Diwali. Never consume them either. It is not ideal to drink alcohol during this time either, but the rules are willingly violated on this very night. As a result, we have noticed many unprecedented incidents taking place day after day.

It is also told that one should not clap while singing the hymns of Laxmi, not even during the period of aarti. It is not ideal to shout out loudly or sing with full-throated ease during the Puja. Mother does not like high-pitched sounds and gets offended easily.

Sweeping the Puja area just after the end of Puja should not be appreciated. Do it later on. The merits and benefits attained by Puja may be washed away by such an act.

Keep your entire house clean. Never try to clutter up. Throw away those things from homes that are no longer in use. Actually, at home, there are many things that are kept unnecessarily. You must be concerned about these things. Throw them out in the trash after sorting them out properly. The things that have been unused for a long time must not be kept at home during the time of Diwali. If you think they are still working or may be used, donate them.

During Diwali, keep in mind the atmosphere. Keep your outlets and drains clean. Your kitchen must remain clean by all means. It is expected that no bad odor comes from anywhere. Keep your bathroom clean. All the basins and sinks must be taken care of to avoid the stink. Actually, it is the ideal task to keep our surroundings clean, but we often forget to do so. During the Diwali period, it is expected that you are enjoying holidays. So it is your prime duty to keep everything clean so that the Mother is happy and blesses you.

Your home appliances must be kept clean during this period too. If you watch anything out of order or in bad condition, never give it any place at home. Either throws it in the trash can or outside, where it should be thrown.

Finally, keep in mind that Diwali can shower on you the grace of Mother Laxmi if your abode is free from all sorts of malware. Mother Laxmi stays there, where cleanliness rests.

So while celebrating Diwali 2023 keep it in mind that the surrounding is not affected and let everyone be happy.
