Matsya Dwadashi is a Hindu festival which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This is the day which is deicated to the first manifestation of Lord Vishnu which is known as Matsya. He came on earth during Satya Yuga.
Meaning of the word: "Matsya- Fish and Dwadashi- twelfth day of the lunar day. Hence, the festival of Matsya Dwadashi is celebrated on the twelfth day of the growing moon phase from November and December. The day is celebrated by devotees with great zeal and enthusiasm .
Rituals of Matsya Dwadashi :
People wake up early in the morning and take bath. They wear neat and clean clothes. Devotees visit to Lord Vishnu's temple and offer prayers to the deity. He is offered fruits and flowers, sandalwood paste and incense sticks. Devotees observe fast on this day to seek his blessings.
Significance of Matsya Dwadashi :
Devotees who worship Lord Vishnu on this day are blessed with happiness, joy and prosperity. Devotion towards Lord Vishnu removes sins and evil deeds of the person. Women who are childless should worship Lord Vishnu. This will bless them with virtuous child. Men observe Matsya Dwadashi for health, wealth and prosperity.
